Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level

The CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level unit covers the outcomes required to perform rigging work at the intermediate level, which includes all the outcomes for rigging work at the basic level, and also includes rigging of cranes, rigging of conveyors, rigging of dredges and excavators, rigging associated with tilt slabs, rigging associated with demolition work, and dual lifts for licensing purposes.

Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle hoists.

This unit applies to rigging work involving:

  • structural steel erection
  • hoists
  • pre-cast concrete members of a structure
  • safety nets and static lines
  • mast climbing work platforms
  • perimeter safety screens and shutters
  • cantilevered crane loading platforms.

Rigging work is undertaken in construction and other industries where load shifting equipment is used to move, place or secure loads.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations.

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum age 18 years
  • The ability to understand mathematical symbols and basic calculations
  • English speaking (no interpreter allowed) as per Regulation 6.20 (d) is satisfied that the person has sufficient knowledge of the English language, both written and oral, to safely do work of that class

This unit has a pre-requisite requirement

  • This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLDG3001 Licence to perform dogging 
  • or holding a valid licence for dogging.
